At the Antananarivo airport in you will be greeted by our guide from the agency and he will take you to the hotel.
In the morning, start driving to Antsirabe along theRN7. We will stop to see a crafts workshop, and will visit the aluminum foundry in Ambatolampy where locals make kitchen utensils and other artisanal objects. Here we will also stop to have lunch.
When we arrive in Antsirabe we will take a city tour with the pousse-pousse, after which we will visit a craft workshop which uses zebu horns for sculpting and engraving. We will stay over-nigh in Antsirabe.
Will leave early in the morning from the hotel, to start our drive to Morondava. Along the way we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Central and East Madagascar, and occasionally we will stop to see gold miners.
In the afternoon, we will stop in Miandrivazo to take lunch, and shop in the local markets.
Will arrive in the evening in Morondava where we will stay over-night.
This is the beginning of the off-road adventure! We will start the day early with off-road driving until Bekopaka. On the way we will be passing by the majestic Andansonia grandidieri baobabs, it’s a sight that has become iconic to Madagascar. It is more popularly known as The Baobab Avenue.
Next, we will cross the Tsiribihina river on a ferry boat, which will take around one hour. When we reach Belo/Tsiribihina we will stop to have lunch and then continue Bekopaka, where we will stay overnight.
In the morning, we will take a trip on the river with the local guide by pirogue at the gorge of Manambolo. This will take around 2 hours and we will see the caves of stacalacties and old tombs of Vazimba, which according to popular belief, were the first inhabitants of Madagascar. Next, is a visit to the small tsingy, after which we will have lunch. The rest of the afternoon is free for independent activities.
Start the day by driving approximately 17 km to the tsingy. Equipment such as shoulder harnesses will be provided since they are necessary to explore the tsingy which are as high as 50 meters. Walkways and wooden bridges will integrate into the landscape and will help you to continue more easily your visit to the area of the great tsingy.
During the day you will have a picnic lunch in the park, and dinner at the hotel.
Start the drive back and cross again the river with the ferry boat. Will take lunch in the Belo/Tsiribihina village, and then drive to Kirindy Reserve.
In the evening the program will include an amazing night walk in the dry forest (to spot lemurs, ants, geckos, fosa).
In the morning we will return to the forest to see lemurs and more endemic wildlife.
After the forest visit we will have lunch in one of the local restaurants.
After lunch we will continue the drive back to Morondava but will stop at the lovers baobab and sacred baobab. If we are lucky we will catch the sunsets in the baobab avenue, a breathtaking site of the giant baobabs. After the sunset we will drive to Morondava where we will stay overnight.
In the mornings, we will start driving south in the direction of Manja. We will leave the main road and start the off-road adventure. On this part of the trip we will see countless beautiful landscapes with baobabs.
We will stop at noon to have a picnic-lunch and then continues the off-road adventure.
In the evening we will arrive in Manja, where we will stay for the night.
Once again, we will start early in the morning to drive towards Andavadoaka. We will cross the Mangoky River with a ferry boat, then stop to take lunch in the town of Morombe. After lunch, we will continue the drive through the baobab filled landscape until we reach Andavadaoka, where we will stay until the next day.
In Andavadaoka you can decide if you want to go diving or snorkeling in the coral reef, or just to relax in the sun at the beach. The water in Andavadoaka is very clear and is one of the best places to experience the coral reef.
The off-road adventure starts again early in the morning. Around noon we will stop to have a picnic-lunch on the beach, and afterword we will continue until we reach Ifaty, where we will for the next 2 nights.
Ifaty is a small fishing village at the sea. It has beautiful beaches with palm trees and hammocks to relax in. The seafood here is excellent and fresh, you can even see the fisherman returning with the daily catch which in the evening will be on the menus.
Several activities can be done here and it is up to you and the guide to decide which ones you are more interested in. The activities include:
1) Diving or snorkeling in coral reef. You can visit the Rose Garden Marine Reserve which is a protected region of the coral reef that has large a colony of Montipora or Rose shaped corals.
2) Visit the Renala private reserve – here you can see and learn about the spiny forest, baobabs, succulent plants, cacti, endemic birds, chameleons, and you can even see the tenrec in his natural habitat.
3) Simply enjoy the sun, warm water, have a cold drink at beach, and enjoy the gourmet local seafood.
In the morning, we will start to drive towards Ranohira. We will stop in Tulear to visit the local craft workshop. From Tulear onward we will be driving on an asphalt road, which marks the end of the off-road adventure.
After leaving Tulear we will have the option to visit the Antsokay arboretum which holds and impressive collection of endemic plants, which you can learn about there.
On the road from Tulear to Ranohira we will pass by numerous villages formed by the sapphire rush, and villages where local rum is made.
Early in the morning we will go to the National Park, accompanied by the park ranger. We will hike through the canyons and oases of Isalo. Occasionally the lunar landscape will lead you to a few beautiful waterfalls. This environment was formed during the Jurassic age where the unique flora has evolved adapting to the existing conditions. There are 77 species of birds live that live in Isalo, and several species of lemurs, including the world famous ring tailed lemurs. After the canyon, we will go to different a place to see a panoramic view of the landscape.
In the National Park, you will have the opportunity to go for a short swim in several natural formed swimming pools.
After the park visit, in the evening, we will have dinner in the town of Ranohira. Here you will have the option to eat genuine pizza made by an Italian who has been living in Madagascar for many years now.
After the breakfast, we will start to drive to Ranomafana. We will continue to drive until we reach the Anja Natural Reserve, where we will stop to eat, and go to a visit in the natural reserve where many ring-tailed lemurs and chameleon can be seen up-close, as well as ancient tombs of the ancestors of the Malagasy people.
After lunch we will stop in the town of Ambalavao to see the fascinating process of silk production, and the traditional paper factory.
In the evening we will reach Ranomafana where we will stay for the next 2 nights.
The visit to the Ranomafana National Park will start after breakfast. In the park, you will be accompanied by the local guide/naturalist and you will have the chance to see up to 13 species of lemur that live there in the rain forest.
After the park visit we will have lunch and relax for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening we will go on a night adventure to spot frogs and nocturnal lemurs.
We will start driving towards Ambositra in the morning after breakfast. At noon we will arrive in Ambositra where we will have lunch and check in the hotel.
In the afternoon, we will visit the local wood craft workshops, where you can see how the locals have preserved wood working traditions. Here you will also see how raffia is processed and made in to various house decorations.
In the morning we will start the last part of the journey back to Antananarivo, which we will reach in the evening. Along the way we will pass many rice fields, and traditional villages.
Starting in the morning we will go and visit the Ambohimanga palace and have lunch there. Afterword we will return to the city center and explore the local tourist attractions and markets.
In the evening, we will have a final dinner before preparing for your next day departure.
We will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the airport to take your return flight home.

Each day includes 3 meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and accommodation at various hotels. Transportation will be done in a 4×4 vehicle from our agency. Our guide will accompany you throughout the trip and will be your private ambassador to Madagascar.
